Innoson CEO Opens Up On His Controversial Arrest By EFCC

Following his release from EFCC custody, the founder of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma has thrown more light on his arrest.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Chukwuma has opened up on his arrest and detention by men of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday.

Chukwuma said his arrest was not hinged on tribalism or antagonism against the eastern part of the country.

Revealing more details while addressing journalists in his country home, Nnewi, shortly after his return, Chukwuma confirmed that the EFCC was behind the arrest through the auspices of a commercial bank that was deducting some money illegally from his account for over 11 years amounting to over N400million.

He said that when he observed the illegal deductions, he consulted an auditor who tabulated the correct amount which the bank agreed to refund but later reneged.

According to him, the matter was taken to both the High Court and Court of Appeal where he won. The Innoson company chairman expressed surprise that the bank could involve the EFCC to arrest him even when they were the one in debt.

He, however, commended President Mohammadu Buhari, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, some Igwes, Emirs and Obas and other notable personalities and groups across the country for intervening in the matter.

Meanwhile, the residence of the business mogul has become a Mecca of sorts as people trooped in their numbers to felicitate with him even as the techno-entrepreneur welcomed them smiling warmly.
