National Mirror has a report which claims that the United States of America is supporting Muhammadu Buhari's incoming government because it wants to ensure that certain individuals wanted in the US are finally extradited to face trials.

 National Mirror exclusively gathered that the US was backing Buhari in his anti corruption campaign in order to extradite prominent Nigerian politicians who have been on the wanted lists of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, for sundry offences. The politicians wanted by the US include top ranking members of both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC.

The US refused to support President Goodluck Jonathan because he allegedly sheltered wanted politicians from extradition. Buhari's anti-corruption stance was the key component of his presidential campaign.
