'The Hidden Truth About Nigerians Abroad' by Kalaman Bosco

For Nigerians the grass is always greener on the other side, a belief which has brought catastrophic consequences on youths back home - greediness, laziness and violence.

Nigerians in the diaspora are so proud about living abroad even though 75 percentage of them engage in mania jobs to survive, demeaning jobs they’ll never agree to do in Nigeria. Even though they are been paid more money, their salaries abroad is just hand to mouth. Just about 20% are working with some qualifications as skillful workers.

Then there are the 5% who are "living large" and are not giving Nigeria a good name as they indulge in unlawful activities. Seven out of every 10 doing illegal things are in prison, serving long term prison and some have received the death penalty (Indonesia comes to mind here).

All these makes one oft to wonder, “does this abroad thing in real sense benefit Nigerians?” Do you have an idea how many Nigerians have died this year because of high blood pressure caused by excess stress. Did you know how many are with mental illness and depression?

This article aims to reveal some truth about the hidden secrets abroad for does who want to take the risk. When you arrive abroad especially the west, you have the challenge of obtaining your permanent resident permit to allow you stay in the country which can take you minimum 3 to 5 years or sometimes more, depending on the country and your family contact help in that country.

Racism is a big issue. Some countries are very racist and are not black friendly. 75% of the population in Italy, Spain, Greece , Germany, Swiss,Austria, all eastern block from Russia to Slovak are racist. Other countries that are not too racist are not particularly black friendly. They have some blacks in their system so the racism in them is reduced, like the UK, France, holland, Belgium and Portugal, but Scandinavians are different.

In USA it depend on the state you live in, and Canada is just like Scandinavian countries! With these scenario you know your chances to survive are very slim and you have the pressure back home to send money to your family.

Some Nigerians after 4 to 5 years of suffering travel back home on vacation with one flashy car just to show those back home that they have arrived, which in most cases isn’t so.

The bottom line is, if you live in Nigeria with a salary of 70thousand naira you are better than 70% of those abroad. So why the abroad madness?
