There was drama at Kapiri Mposhi Magistrates Court after a suspect openly produced charms while testifying in an open court, today.
This is in a matter where four Kapiri Mposhi businessmen are appearing in court for selling medicines in a place which is not a pharmacy and without authorization from the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA).
Particulars of the offence are that on 2nd May 2019 in Kapiri Mposhi district Bill Musaike, 26, Bosco Chilufya, 24, MacMillan Kunda 26 and Derick Chilufya, 31, did sell conversional and herbal medicines namely activated charcoal, lemon crystal, seven wonders, gas formula and sex enhancement drugs among others without lawful authority from ZAMRA.
This is contrary to Section 39 (1) (3) of the medicines and Allied Substances Act No. 3 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia.
Chilufya then taunted the court stating the charm would help him in the court proceedings.
At this moment Magistrate Malupande called for police action who searched the accused and discovered assorted charms wrapped on his body including private parts.
Chilufya was later arrested and charged for possessing charms contrary to section 11 (2) (3) of the Witchcraft Act chapter 90 of the laws of Zambia.
He will appear in court tomorrow for the subsequent. charged.
