Disguised in unofficial car, DRC president gets traffic cop arrested for demanding bribe from him [Photos]

The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, has been receiving praises from across the country for what people are describing as a novel act to allegedly block out corruption.

In a surprise move by the president, he reportedly called for the arrest of a police officer who had allegedly attempted taking bribe from the driver of a car he was driving in, unbeknownst to the police officer.

When the vehicle the president was driving in was approaching the checkpoint, the president asked his driver to speed up, waiting to see what would happen. One of the officers then flagged down, ordering the driver to stop for over-speeding.

After a brief interaction, the police officer asked that the driver give him $10 so that he could let him off. It was at this point that the president stepped out of the vehicle and called for the police officer to be arrested.

With several people already held up in the same traffic, crowds started gathering at the scene, with many hailing the president for such a brilliant way of identifying corrupt officials of the law.
