A 64-year-old Nanyuki businesswoman was over the weekend found dead and police suspect she was killed by her 22-year-old boyfriend.
Police suspect Ms Priscillah Waithera was hit on the forehead with a blunt object at the gate of her house in Muthaiga Estate.
The caretaker of the house, Mr Jaldesa Guyo, said he heard someone knocking the gate at around 11pm and on opening it, found the young lover standing next to the woman’s car while holding a machete.
The young man told the caretaker that Ms Waithera’s body was in the boot.
The lover picked the body, dumped it near the house and covered it with a bed sheet.
“He also ordered me to pick whatever I wanted in the house,” Mr Guyo later told journalists. The lover also claimed ownership of the house.
Mr Guyo managed to flee and hide at a neighbour’s house from where he called police officers.
The suspect, who is a neighbour of the deceased, then fled with her mobile phone and the vehicle. The vehicle was found Sunday morning at Kibirigwi, Kirinyaga County.
The businesswoman and the boyfriend are said to have started their relationship only two months ago.
Police said the deceased’s phone was still ringing on Sunday and the suspect was suspected to be using it before it switching it off.
The body was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as police continue with investigations.
