A man in Machakos county chopped off his wife’s hands because they had been unable to get a child.
A 27-year-old Jackline Mwende was attacked by her husband, Stephen Ngila,34 with a panga. She suffered multiple injuries on neck and head during the attack.
Mwende told journalists that she had been separated from her husband for three months after failing to conceive. She currently works as a shopkeeper.
“I could not understand why he was blaming me yet we had gone to the hospital last year and the doctors had said he was the one with issues, which could be corrected,” Mwende was quoted by Daily Nation.
The woman had been to a hospital and doctors had told her that her husband was the issue but could get medical help.
The woman who was recently discharged from hospital went back to her parent’s house in Kathama village.
Her husband fled shortly after committing the atrocity but was arrested hours later. His photo has been making rounds online since the news broke out.

Relatives say Mwende had always wanted to leave her abusive husband but was being persuaded by her pastor’s to stick to her marriage.
