MUSLIM terrorist network the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) plans to issue a video announcing its accepting of Boko Haram's application to join its fold after the Nigerian sect said it wishes to be affiliated to the body.
Yesterday, Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to Isis and posted a statement signed by its leader Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, to that effect on its Twitter account. Boko Haram will become the latest in a series of groups to swear allegiance to Isis, which has already forged links with other militant groups across North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
In November, Isis leader Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi accepted pledges of allegiance from jihadists in Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. In January, militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan announced that they were forming an Isis province too.
Abu Ward Al-Raqqawi, a member of Raqqa, who are the founders and activists in Syria, said the terrorist umbrella group will accept Boko Haram into its fold. He added that the body will soon issue a video confirming the acceptance of the Nigerian terrorist sect.
Mr Al-Raqqawi added: "Isis will soon release a video accepting Boko Haram’s pledge of allegiance to the group.” One of the first persons to share Boko Haram’s audio on Twitter, he added that Isis remains committed to fighting against the Syrian regime.
