Yesterday was the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time in Catholic Church; Benjamin 7 and Perez 11 have been following the progress of the upcoming Nigerian election through their parent, families, visitors and phone calls, including watching NTA news and Channel Television.
Despite the cold and icy – slippery roads, the boys persuaded their parents to take them to church to attend mass and to ask Fr. Richard Rocha to pray for Nigeria for the election holding this week.
After the sermon, Benjamin and Perez approached Pastor Richard Rocha, where the enumerated concerns on hate speeches, killings, human rights violations, intimidations, unattended hunger kids wandering the streets.
The parish priest in his response was very pleased with the boys’ interest in their country and overwhelmed that they brought the upcoming poll to his attention, adding that this is the first-time kids of their age ever approached him with such a request. He quickly notified the rest of the congregation to join hands and faith to pray for Nigeria election, that may the Holy Spirit intervene immediately; take charge of the security, lives, and properties. After the prayer, he promised to keep the country in its daily prayers and offered to contact his colleagues for more prayers. He remarked, “I am very proud of the attendance and participation of Nigerians in the church activities. Incidentally, the Parish Chair is a Nigerian, Fourth Degree Knight; his is Sir. Francis John.
