In a latest move to help combat prevailing droughts in some parts of the country, the Kenyan government has received delivery of a donation of some 30,000 bags of rice from China, but citizens are not being pleased with the decision.
Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Devolution and ASALs, Eugene Wamalwa, made the announcement in a tweet on his page, stating, “Just received a donation of 30,000 bags Of rice from The People’s Republic of China to compliment GOK relief food distribution in 23 drought affected Counties.”
Half of Kenya’s 47 counties is currently battling with drought which has led to rising food insecurity and the need for government intervention.
