At least one person has been killed following an airstrike on a residential building in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, ahead of fresh talks with Russia.
According to the country’s emergency service, scores of residents were injured during the attack by Russian forces.
It was learnt that the Russian troops edged closer to the city and kept up their siege of the southern port city of Mariupol, where officials said about 2,200 people have been killed so far.
“As of 7:40 am (0540 GMT) one person was found dead in a nine-storey apartment building” in the capital’s Obolon district, the emergency service said in a statement, on Monday.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian representatives are expected to meet via videoconference for peace talks on Monday (today).
