Again, NIS refuses to release passport of #Endsars promoter after preventing her from travelling

Odele Modupe, a lawyer, human rights activist and one of the Nigerians who mobilized protesters during the #Endsars protests has confirmed through her verified Twitter handle that Nigeria Immigration Service once again refused to release her International passport after preventing her from leaving the country on Sunday.

ElombahNews earlier today reported how Odele Modupe was stopped by Immigration officers from leaving the country for her birthday celebration in Maldive. According to the lawyer, the Immigration officers that prevented her from travelling said she is under investigation.

Although, no confirmed charges have been filed against her. Sources said, the order which NIS is acting upon was given from above, which could be from the presidency.

However, when Odele Modupe went back to NIS office today to retrieve her passport, they insisted it will not be released.

Odele said, “Hello people, I went to retrieve my passport today but was told this: “We cannot release your passport because you are still under investigation”.

“As of now, I’m not aware of any charges against me or what I am under investigation for.”

Nigerians from all walks of life have vehemently condemned the actions of Nigerian government. Many said the harassment of Odele Modupe was uncalled for and Buhari’s administration should desist from such undemocratic and despicable act.
