London church fined over loud 3am ‘anti-demon’ services

A church in south London has been fined more than £7,000 for holding noisy services aimed at fending off evil spirits at 3am.

Camberwell’s Kingdom Church, a branch of Bishop Climate Ministries, were ordered to pay £7,740.50 following a flood of complaints about ‘loud preaching’ to Southwark Council.

Residents became frustrated after having to put up with persistent and extremely loud noises on an almost daily basis from the church.

The services, which were often held in the early hours of the morning, claim to offer ‘deliverance’ from sickness, financial hardship and ‘demonic soul ties’, according to the church’s website.

The site also claims the church teaches the word of the Bible but it reportedly does not appear to be connected to any official branch of Christianity.

A neighbour told the Standard: ‘I live directly next to it. The noise is constant. I don’t mind being bothered on Sunday mornings, but the late evening and early morning sessions are horrible.’

‘When there is a pause, the congregation flood out to the street to get food from a small food stand for a recharge, making just as much noise as while inside.’

The leaders of the church were given the fine at Camberwell Magistrates Court on February 22 after being found guilty of two charges. They are reportedly going to appeal the fine.
