The suspects, Gideon Nuka, Seth Steve Okuthe
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday evening, May 5, after they failed to deliver a shipment of gold to Dubai as earlier agreed.
A Nigerian man alongside a Kenyan national has been apprehended by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kenya, for defrauding an Italian preacher-cum-businessman of over Sh19.5 Million (N69,414,519.17).
The DCI in a statement on Thursday, May 6, said the 35-year-old Nigerian identified as Gideon Nuka and Seth Steve Okuthe, a Kenyan, have been arrested on several occasions on fraud charges.
The two suspects were arrested on Wednesday evening, May 5, after they failed to deliver a shipment of gold to Dubai as earlier agreed.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that the Nigerian national has been following the preacher in his gospel missions all over the world and found the opportunity to strike when he got into Kenya," the statement says.
"The preacher-cum-businessman was lured into the trap after he was shown fake gold which he paid for and even paid a significant amount of money to have a private jet deliver the consignment in Dubai.
"The two have been produced before court today, for obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 313 of the penal code."
