Preamble:

Praise God! Today is December 31, 2022 the last day and last Saturday of the year.  God has enabled us to share together what the “Holy Spirit Taught Me This Morning” every Saturday of the year.  I do hope and pray that these little meditations bless you. I will appreciate feedback from you as to how this has blessed your life particularly, if there is a topic that ministered to you in a special way.   Also, if there is an area you want us to explore to further assist your Christian growth. I pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten our paths more and more in the years ahead. Todays’s piece is a seven prayer-point piece that the Holy Spirit ministered to me from Isaiah 11 (NIV). I encourage you to “go into the Spirit” and pray them into your life.”

Isaiah lived about 750 years before Christ, but this passage is a prophecy about Christ. Isaiah is saying that the Messiah will be both the shoot and the root of Jesse, and that he will bear abundant fruit. And this fruit will be a kingdom of life and peace for people around the world, for all of creation, and for every one of us here today.

Jesus as the SHOOT:

David as the son of Jesse became a king in Israel and was followed by Solomon, Rehoboam and so on, which lasted for about 400 years until it was cut off. Babylon defeated Judah and carried the king off into exile. Although, the physical line of descendants continued, they were no longer reigning as kings. Other powers took over and ruled over the Jews. First, Babylon, then Persia, and later, Greece and Rome, and so the royal line of kings was cut off.

It was like a tree that had been cut down. What was left looked like just a dead stump. How could another king come from that dead stump? That’s what our text is saying when it says, “the stump of Jesse.” It’s looking to a time when the royal line would be cut off, cut down, and with no prospects for its revival.

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.” Out of what looks like a dead stump will come a new and living shoot. Small at first, seemingly insignificant, but it will rise and become a fruitful tree- After almost 600 years of no Davidic king, because of foreign domination, the line of kings being reduced to a bunch of mediocrities and seeming deadness, there would come a lively shoot, in the form of a baby named Jesus. That is what happened that we celebrate as Christmas today.

Jesus as the ROOT. 

I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16). As eternal God, Jesus is the source and creator of Jesse and correspondingly David's line. That means He is not just the New Shoot and the Branch.He is the root.John 1:1-4 “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God,  and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4The Word gave life to everything that was created, [a] and his life brought light to everyone.” Jesus is the source of life-the root of Jesse. He created Jesse.

7 Prayer points from Isaiah 11. 

Pray these wonderful prayer points based on Scripture.
1. What Jesus will give you- Jesus, bless me with the seven spirits.

-Pray this blessing into your life; those are the graces on Jesus and made Him successful and outstanding.

Isaiah 11: 2. “And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”

 2.  What it will enable you to do: When you receive the seven spirits above it will enable you to do the following. 3 “He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will not judge by appearance nor judge based on hearsay. 4 He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment.” Pray that the grace to obey God and do all other shall rest on you!

1. What you will enjoy: harmony: Pray for harmony in your house and church. Wherever you need harmony.  V6.” In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. 7 The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. 8 The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm. Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord” O Lord no more hatred,acrimony, in your home, family etc. Peace galore!
2. What you will do –as an eagle believer -a responsible Christian. Responsibility to be undertaking based on the blessing of verse 2.  V10.”In that day the heir to David’s throne[b] will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, and the land where he lives will be a glorious place. [c] 11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time     to bring back the remnant of his people— those who remain in Assyria and northern Egypt; in southern Egypt, Ethiopia,[d] and Elam; in Babylonia,[e] Hamath, and all the distant coastlands. 12 He will raise a flag among the nations and assemble the exiles of Israel. He will gather the scattered people of Judah from the ends of the earth.” Pray you shall be used to bring many to God from all nations.
3. What you will do as eagle believer- Jealousy ends in your home, marriage, family, office, church etc. V13”Then at last the jealousy between Israel and Judah will end. They will not be rivals anymore. 14 They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west. Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They will occupy the lands of Edom and Moab, and Ammon will obey them.” O Lord I reject the spirit of jealousy. I ban jealousy among my children, siblings,family ,church members etc.
4. Obstacles in your life will be gone by the wave of God’s hand V 15. “The Lord will make a dry path through the gulf of the Red Sea. He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River, sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams so it can easily be crossed on foot.” Pray that God will fight for you with the wave of His hands. Pray  you will crossover. That sickness will not consume you. Miracle will happen for you in the years ahead.
5. God will make a way not just a way but highway for you-in 2023.V16 “He will make a highway for the remnant of his people, the remnant coming from Assyria, just as he did for Israel long ago when they returned from Egypt “whether you have been born again decades ago or you are giving your life today pray that God will make a highway for you , highway to holiness, to peace, prosperity, …. Sing this song – “God will make a way…….

 Conclusion: Jesus the shoot and root of Jesse shall bear fruit. The Messiah’s fruit will be seen in the kingdom over which he will reign. Two things here: One is that his kingdom will be a “peaceable kingdom.” The other is that his kingdom will include the Gentiles, the nations. And both of these things mean life for you and me. As gentiles you and I are forever included in the peaceable kingdom. Make up your mind to enjoy Jesus- The Shoot and Root of Jesus.
