The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University(KASU), Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, has disclosed that its Kafanchan campus had recently won a N1 billion grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, Prof Musa further said that the campus made KASU proud for emerging as the only university that won the rigorous N1 billion competitive grant on the basis of its unparallel facilities and agricultural financial plan.

According to him, the grant was given because of the available infrastructure at the Kafanchan campus of KASU, adding that the award further boosted the varsity’s profile in academic circles.

The Vice Chancellor said that although the campus faces challenges like any other tertiary institution in the country, ‘’but it will be erroneous to say that the Kafanchan campus has been neglected.’’

Prof Musa who argued that education got the lion’s share of 25% of the N985.9 billion budget for 2026, said that ‘’the issue of infrastructure across all campuses of KASU will be looked into.’’

‘’Governor Uba Sani’s top priority is education, his administration believes that knowledge is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and securing the future of our children,’’ he said.

‘’His Excellency’s commitment to education was evident in his first Executive Order, which reduced tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions by 50%,’’ he added.

According to him, the reduction in school fees increased students enrolment at Kaduna State University (KASU), Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, and the College of Education Gidan Waya.

Prof Musa added that Kaduna State-owned tertiary institutions have introduced new courses that have passed through the Resource verification of regulatory agencies.

The Vice Chancellor recalled that most KASU courses which were hitherto not accredited, have now been accredited by the National University Commission (NUC).

‘’Earlier in the week, KASU won the West Africa’s most outstanding institutional partner for Climate Smart Agriculture award’’, he added.
