The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state, Darlington Nwuju, has claimed that his party inherited the challenges of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Nwuju made the statement in reference to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State while fielding questions during the Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday.
According to the APC spokesman, the crisis was inherited from the PDP and is now dovetailing into his party.
DAILY POST reports that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, have been engaged in a political rivalry over the control of Rivers’ resources and power.
Just on Thursday, the State House of Assembly loyal to Wike initiated an impeachment proceedings against Fubara.
He said: “Now I know you are aware that these are issues that is dovetailing into our party. These are issues that were occurring within the People’s Democratic Party. So it’s is now as if we have inherited these challenges.
“I have assured you earlier on that with intervention of the leader of our party and the president of the nation that this issue will be resolved once and for all. It will not go into full mug. I want to assure you this is a political issue. This is a political disagreement, and so you must see it in that light.
“Yes, it does have legal implications and constitutional implications, but I want to assure you that it will be handled in the way and manner that Nigerians will be happy for it and Rivers State will be able to move forward from where we are Today.”
