Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Friday met with ex-Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Eufai was part of the delegation Atiku led to pay a condolence visit to the family of late nationalist, Edwin Clark.
Disclosing this via his X handle, Atiku said Clark’s death was a loss to the whole Nigeria.
He wrote: “Today, I led a delegation that included the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, @elrufai, on a condolence visit to the family of foremost statesman and nationalist, Chief Edwin Clark. I prayed for comfort for the family of the man whose work was defined by his pan-Nigerian credentials.
“I reminded them that the passing of Clark was not only a loss to the family, PANDEF, and the Niger Delta but the whole of Nigeria that he had adopted as his constituency.
“The best way to immortalise him is for our leaders to promote unity and inclusiveness for which he lived and died for. May his soul continue to rest in peace. -AA”
Lately, El-Rufai has been in the news for criticizing the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The former governor had said he no longer recognizes the APC due to lack of internal democracy.
He claimed that organs of the party have not met in the past two years under President Bola Tinubu.
Despite the criticisms that greeted El-Rufai’s comment from the APC, Tinubu felicitated with him on his birthday a few days ago.
Meanwhile, Atiku recently met with former military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State.
Before that, Atiku met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Ota, Ogun State.
