Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Youth and Sports have commended the state government for its level of preparedness for the upcoming national sports festival through the procurement and upgrade of infrastructural facilities in MKO Abiola and Ijeja Stadia.

The House Committee members led by the Chairman, Lukmon Atobatele, gave the commendation on Thursday during an on-the-spot assessment to examine the level of preparation towards the forthcoming National Sports Festival scheduled for May, 2025.

Atobatele in company of Folawewo Salami, Wasiu Ayodele, Oyedele Adebisi and Adegoke Adeyanju, stressed that the efforts put in place by the state government was a reflection that the present administration was committed to maximizing the gains of the festival, particularly with its compliance with international standards in sporting infrastructure.

He admonished contractors to ensure the timely delivery of the ongoing projects at the stadia without compromising standard and safety for the sport athletes.

In his remarks, the commissioner for sports, Wasiu Isiaka, said the facilities put in place were an indication that the present administration remained committed to the advancement of sports in the state, particularly to attract more youth, thereby curbing social vices.

Isiaka added that the state would leverage on the festival to further improve upon the sporting ecosystem of the State.

He disclosed that all efforts were in top gear towards ensuring the speedy completion of the projects in all the facilities to be used during the festival.
