The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, has reaffirmed its preparedness for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for 22 February 2025.
The Commission Chairman, Hashim Abioye made this announcement during a press briefing held on Monday.
Abioye, stated, “We are ready for the upcoming local government elections on 22 February 2025, and we are unveiling the electoral materials.”
The Commission displayed key voting materials, including ballot boxes, ballot papers and double-edge cubicles.
Abioye noted that all registered political parties remain part of the electoral process, with no withdrawals reported.
“As of today, we have not had withdrawal from any political parties from the forthcoming elections, all parties are still involved in the electoral process,” he explained.
Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in the state, Pastor Victor Akande, commended OSSIEC’s preparations while urging the Commission to maintain neutrality.
He also warned the Commission not to allow any external influence to jeopardize the credibility of the election.
“We are going for the election on February 22, 2025 come what may. What matter most is peace and progress.
“We are giving our maximum support to OSSIEC. 14 political parties were physically represented while APP and PDP are not physically present due to their ongoing court case,” he explained.
The local government election is slated to hold on the 22nd February, 2025.
