Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

    1. Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called for unity and reconciliation in Kano State, warning against political divisions that could threaten the peace and historical significance of the state. Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the late Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sanusi, Shettima emphasized the importance of preserving peace and cohesion in Kano, describing the state as a pivotal center of influence in Northern Nigeria.

    2. The leadership of the Labour Party, LP, has condemned a statement by the former vice presidential candidate in the 2023 General Elections, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed, who said President Bola Tinubu’s government is ‘questionably constitutional’. The rebuttal, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of LP, Dr Arabambi Abayomi, was issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna by the party’s National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim.

    3. Tragedy struck in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State on Saturday morning after a multi-storey building located on Oremeta Street collapsed, leaving several people feared trapped beneath the rubble. The building, reportedly still under construction, also housed the popular EqualRight Restaurant, a known spot for residents and visitors in the area

    4. Tension has escalated in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State following a renewed attack on Otsukputu community on Friday, resulting in the death of two individuals of Ezza extraction and the disappearance of several others. According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Ezza Ezekuna Benue Development Association, EEBDA, the victims—Mr Jude Nweke and Mrs Nwankwo Umanyi—were brutally murdered in what community leaders described as an unprovoked assault, allegedly perpetrated by suspected Effium attackers.

    5. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu of lacking competence and ideas in tackling the insecurity issues in Nigeria. In a post on X, Atiku said Tinubu has chosen to “galvanize in Europe” while unable to solve Nigeria’s insecurity challenges.

    6. Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule on Saturday declared that the North would not waver in its support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Speaking at the 2025 Nzeh Mada Festival in Akwanga, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state yesterday, Gov. Sule said it had become imperative for the North to work towards the actualisation of Tinubu’s return in 2027.

    7. Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, has expressed sadness over growing insecurity in the country, saying the slaughtering of innocent citizens presents the nation as a country under siege. The cleric who disclosed this in his Easter message in Owerri the Imo State capital said the continued kidnap for ransom and gruesome killings of innocent citizens by criminals clearly say it all.

    8. The presidency has insisted that the Vice President, Kashim Shettima and his Principal, President Bola Tinubu are in good terms, stressing that infact both politicians share unbreakable bond. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, debunked the speculations on Saturday, morning, saying such insinuations exist only in the imagination of mischief makers.

    9. Prince Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Nigerians to pray fervently for divine intervention in the country’s affairs. In an Easter message released through his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, Secondus highlighted Nigeria’s blessings but lamented ongoing suffering due to poor leadership.

    10. Nigerian gospel singer, Bolaji Olarewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has died. His death was confirmed by his family in a statement on Saturday.
