The Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, on Sunday said the planned nationwide protest by retired police officers is an attempt to discredit the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun. Bauchi South senator, Shehu Buba Umar, has refuted reports that the Senate has approved the creation of 12 new states. He described the claims as false and baseless. Speaking with journalists in Bauchi at the weekend, Buba explained that the Senate has not made any decision on new states or local government areas. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said its operatives have arrested a 44-year-old man after intercepting 74,360 pills of opioid in Maiduguri, Borno State. NDLEA’s Director of Media and Publicity, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement that highlighted the agency’s ongoing war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the country.
