Alleged N69bn debt: Court fixes Jan 24 for AMCON’s suit against Jimoh Ibrahim

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed January 24, 2022 for a suit filed by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for a stay of execution of orders granted Jimoh Ibrahim over alleged N69billion debt.

On Monday, Justice Okon Abang fixed the date after AMCON’s request for reconsideration of the Court of Appeal verdict.

The adjourned date would either be to mention the suit or abide by the decision of the Court of Appeal.

NAN reports that AMCON was not in court while Ibrahim was represented by Oladele Oyelami, who held brief for Adeniyi Akintola (SAN).

Oyelami told the court that the matter was slated for hearing the notice of appeal served on the defence on September 30 by AMCON.

AMCON, through its lawyer, Ade Adedeji (SAN) indicated intention appeal the orders made in favour of Ibrahim and his companies.

The motion filed for a stay of execution has suit number: FHC/ABJ/001/2021.

On February 22, Justice Abang vacated the orders obtained by AMCON in aid of Taiwo Lakanu, the receiver/manager appointed to manage Ibrahim’s seized assets.

The government agency had taken possession of the billionaire’s NICON Investment Ltd and Global Fleet Oil and Gas Ltd.
