“Fighting corruption in the society is a collective responsibility for every Nigerian” – Alhaji Rikiji

Speaker Zamfara state House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji, has noted that Nigeria was on trial in making efforts to join comity of
nations in the fight against corruption, a deadly syndrome.

Rikiji who stated this at the 2015 National Conference organized by the School of Languages, Federal College of Education, Zaria, observed
that despite previous governments efforts towards promulgating ant-corruption laws and agencies, the result of the crusade was not
encouraging.

He noted, “I know of an independent Global Watch on Corruption, Transparency International that placed Nigeria among the five most
corrupt nations in the world. I am not sure if the scenario has changed.”

Alhaji Rikiji advised the academicians to consider translating some of the papers to be presented at various Nigerian languages for
understanding and references.

“Fighting corruption in the society is a collective responsibility for every Nigerians,” he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Languages Department, Malam Suleiman Balarabe, called for the fight against corruption to
start from the grassroots.
