A mild drama occurred last night at a hotel in Lagos when Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, got trapped inside the hotel’s elevator for nearly 30 minutes.
Also trapped in the lift along with the monarch were his wife, Olori Prophetess Naomi and some members of his entourage who accompanied him to see the stage performance of the play “Queen Moremi”.
Reports have it that the royal father had arrived the hotel lobby and got into the elevator with over twenty people who were in his entourage, but halfway up, it got stuck, probably due to the excessive weight.
The monarch and his entourage were stuck inside the elevator for almost half an hour, sparking off panic at the hotel until they were eventually rescued and evacuated to safety from the hotel’s basement.
