Jeans are a staple in everyone’s wardrobe but not Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba’s wardrobe.
The eloquent lawyer recently revealed that he is not a fan of jeans and didn't wear them even when they were cool back in campus. He disclosed that he has nothing against jeans but it is a fashion choice he made.
“I’ve never worn jeans. Not at all. (I have not owned a single pair). I don’t have anything against jeans it’s a choice that I made,” he revealed during an interview with NTV.
Talking of sartorial choices, PLO is known for his snazzy Mao suits that he gets imported from Hong Kong. Speaking of his love for the suits, PLO told The Standard Newspaper that he loves the suits because they flatter his slim frame.
He disclosed that he started wearing them in his second year of university.
“I wonder why they should not be called Lumumba suits (laughs). I began wearing them in my second year in the university and the reason I do is because they are very comfortable and suited to my slight built. They are designed specifically on order by a tailor in Hong Kong, hence I feel very comfortable in them,” he shared.
Though PLO imports his suits from Hong Kong, the origins of the Mao suit can be traced back to mainland China.
The suit which is also known as the Zhongshan suit was introduced by republican leader Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan) as a national outfit soon after The Republic of China was founded in 1912. The suit became known as the Mao Suit after Mao Zedong who is referred to as the father of modern China popularized it.
