Taiwo Adepeko
A Nigerian actress, Taiwo Adepeko, has broken down in tears after hoodlums looted her store in Lagos.
The Yoruba film star and entrepreneur shared the sad news in a series of emotional video clips on her Instagram page on Sunday.
In one of the video clips, a devastated Adepeko narrated how she laboured for years — including indulging in menial jobs — alongside acting just to set up the business.
The actress, who is known for movies like ‘Oba Majemu’, ‘Ilara’, and ‘Tori Ola’, added that since she lost her mother at the age of five, she has been struggling alongside her sibling as orphans to eke out a living.
According to her, several valuable items including gold and wristwatches, which were among her latest stocks from Dubai, were looted during the unfortunate incident.
Adepeko said the development was indicative of the failures of President Muhammadu Buhari and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor, to protect lives and properties.
“We are orphans and this happened to us, it’s not easy to get money to start up a business and everything will go off in just one night,” she captioned another video.
“There’s no more security in our environment and hoodlums are taking advantage of this. We have a family to take care of, shattered is an understatement.
“Words fail me, the government should do something about this @desmondelliot @babajidesanwolu @buhari , you people failed as governments.”
She called on the government and other relevant authorities to come to her aid.
The development further stretches the list of celebrities who have had their shops looted amid the unrests that trailed the #EndSARS protest after it was hijacked by hoodlums.
TheCable Lifestyle had earlier reported how the clothing store of Yomi Casual, a fashion designer, was also looted by hoodlums in Lagos.
