Four Nigerian Celebrities Who Have Been Sentenced To Jail

Check out four Nigerian celebrities who have been convicted and sentenced to jail for different crimes.
 

 

Some Nigerian celebrities have tasted jail after being convicted in a law court.

They remain popular but that didn’t stop them from being on the wrong side of the law for which they paid heavily.

Here are four celebrities who have been sentenced to jail:

1) Baba Ijesha

Baba Ijesha a popular Yoruba comic actor was on July 14, 2022, sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting the 14-year-old Foster daughter of actress and comedienne Princess.

2) Ibinabo Fiberesima

The actress in 2009 received a five-year prison term for manslaughter and dangerous driving. She was detained on February 26, 2006, after her vehicle collied with Suraj Giwa’s vehicle on the Lekki-Epe axis. The victim died instantly.

Consequently, the actress was arrested and charged to court for manslaughter and reckless driving. She was convicted and sentenced to five years in jail by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos State High court in 2009. She was later granted bail following an appeal filed by her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina.

However, a Lagos High Court, on March 11, 2016, dismissed Fiberesima’s appeal and upheld her five-year jail term.

3) Uche Odoputa

The actor, producer and a director was arrested in 2007 by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency for trafficking drugs and subsequently jailed for two years and three weeks.

Odoputa reportedly ingested about 1.336kg of cocaine. He was forced to excreted the drugs by the agency.

4) Yetunde Wunmi

The Yoruba actress Taiwo Akinwande, popularly known as Yetunde Wunmi, was in 2006, was arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), she was arrested on grounds of cocaine trafficking. The actress was on her way to London when she was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

She was sentenced to three years imprisonment for which she paid a fine of N1million.
