Singer Portable, the controversy-courting entertainer, real name Habeeb Okikiola, has adopted a new style.
This is to replace his being barred from throwing money on the streets for people to pick up in his base in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State.
The behavior boosted his popularity in the area and nearby environment.
However, elders in Ilogbo, the community where he resided in a shared apartment with his married sister before fame came calling, stopped him from throwing money on the streets in mid-2023—due to speculations surrounding the conduct.
The singer, who operates a bar—named Odogwu, after the drink he represents—in a nearby community of Oke-Osa, complied with the directive but devised another way to maintain a connection with the people.
Sources say he now shares food with the needy and engages in frequent random acts of kindness.
“His recent road rehabilitation in Oke-Osa is part of the new approach since he was barred from throwing money on the streets,” according to those in the know.
Multiple sources confirmed that his growing acts of kindness have given him a better reputation than the reckless throwing of money, which mostly resulted in chaos as people scrambled to pick it up—along with the unflattering rumors of something beyond the ordinary that followed.
