Two women shove wooden spoon into girl’s privates to test for virginity

A GIRL aged 15 from Epworth went through horror after female strangers manhandled her and shoved a wooden spoon in her privates to check whether she was still a virgin. The two accused women, Shelter Senga, 18, and Fungisai Jera, 19, also from Epworth were dragged to courts Monday. They appeared before magistrate Hosea Mujaya facing charges of aggravated indecent assault and unlawful detention. Prosecutor Ephraim Zinyandu appeared for the state. The two women denied the charges but were remanded in custody to Tuesday for finalisation of the case. Zinyandu purported that on November 12 last year, the juvenile was sent by her guardian to fetch water at a local borehole. She met Senga and Jera who invited her to their house to stay but the minor refused. However, the duo reportedly manhandled the complainant and forcibly dragged her to their house. Court heard that when they arrived at the house Senga forced the girl into a room and locked the door. Senga and Jera reportedly told the minor that they were going to verify if she was still a virgin and ordered the girl to lie down and remove her trousers. One of the accused reached for a wooden spoon while the other held the complainant’s legs tightly. The court heard that they allegedly inserted the spoon into the juvenile’s privates and started turning the spoon to ascertain if she was still a virgin. The complainant screamed out of pain and was rescued by a neighbour who warned Senga and Jera to abort their conduct. Senga and Jera then removed the cooking stick from the girl’s privates but locked her inside the room and left the property. They returned the following morning around 6 am and released the minor. The court heard that the girl rushed to her home and informed her aunt about the abuse. The two proceeded to Epworth Police Station and reported Senga and Jera before being referred to Epworth Poly Clinic for medical examinations. Senga and Jera were later arrested.
