Sexual exploitation by male police officers in Nigeria is responsible for the higher prevalence of HIV/AIDS among the female police personnel.
According to Premium Times, the male policemen deliberately toughen the routines to make women more susceptible to sexual abuse.
They make it so tough that, for a woman to pass through the process, they would have to seek help (from a male officer) and in the process succumb to what is called 'transactional sex.'
While some women willingly offered sex to their promiscuous male counterparts, the key catalyst in the spread of the deadly virus remained the male officers, who are often wanton, irresponsible and having not enough self-discipline to use prophylactics.
The study, which was conducted in 2010 but is made available to the public now says that the incidence of the HIV virus among women officers was twice what was obtainable among the males.
