Toddler left blind after doctor removes wrong eye during surgery

Parents are devastated over a medical mix up, which left their young son blind.

14-month-old Fernando Jonathan Valdez Ayala of Mexico, was diagnosed with cancer.

He was undergoing chemotherapy to treat a tumor in his left eye, but the treatment was not working.

Dr. Armando Cisneros Espinoza decided that since the treatment was not working, it would be best to remove the eye via surgery.

However, Fernando's mother, Maria Marlene Ayala Quijano, said that instead of removing the child's left eye, the doctor removed the fully functional right eye.

Sadly, the boy of Ciudad, Obregon, is now blind. His parents are now suing the doctor for the medical negligence.

The surgeon has been suspended while police are investigating the incident.
