Lagos, Per Second News — In spite of her husband’s fetish practices, a businesswoman, Ajoke Abiodun, has passionately pleaded with a Lagos court to save her 14-year-old marriage.
The mother of 3 made the plea to the court not to grant her husband’s request to dissolve the marriage, saying she was “still in love.’’
“My husband is fetish; he usually rubs his manhood with black soap before making love to me.
“I have always denied him sex because of the black soap he rubs and other rituals he performs at home and this is the cause of our frequent fights,’’ 39-year-old Ajoke, told an Igando Customary Court.
She was responding to a suit filed by her husband, Dare Abiodun, seeking the dissolution of the union over threat to his life and his wife’s alleged infidelity. According to her, in 2009 her husband slaughtered a goat for rituals.
“My husband attempted to use me for rituals as he attempted to rub the blood of the goat on my body, but I was fast enough.
“Dare brought to the house some fetish materials like coloured water, black soup, different plant leaves and other items and persuaded me to drink it.
“But l refused since I know that he is fetish.’’
She also accused her husband of infidelity, alleging he is having an affair with a woman called Abiola, who came to disrupt the peace in their matrimonial home.
Abiodun, 41, also a businessman, launched a counter-accusation against his wife, saying “I caught my wife with a man in our matrimonial home.
“When I queried her, she could not give a satisfactory answer as to what the man was doing in our bedroom.”
He however confirmed that his wife had always denied him sex.
“She denies me sex any time I wanted to make love to her. She is a street fighter.
“I have bailed my wife at different police stations more than five times for affray (frequent fighting with neighbours).
Abiodun accused his wife of threatening his life, claiming that she had sent him out of their home at knife-point.
His submission: “I want the court to dissolve the marriage as I am no longer interested; my life is in danger.’’
In his ruling, the court’s president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to their submissions, fixed May 18 for judgment.
