My wife knows I sleep with other women to avoid being attacked by demons- Eldoret man

  • His ‘situation’ started when his grandmother told him a story about his grandfather, a herder, who so loved him, that he promised to come and greet him after his death
  • Ever since, he has never spent a night alone for fear that the demons will attack

For a good night’s sleep devoid of nightmares, Timothy Chesire from Eldoret has to have a woman beside him in bed. Every night. This state of affairs started when he was still in primary school when fear of sleeping alone in a room led to visions of strangers dressed in different clothes and who thoroughly beat him up.

They only stop when he wakes up in the middle of the night.

Things get tricky when he’s travelling out of town on business.

The 28-year-old man from Kapseret in Uasin Gishu County, believes that ‘demonic’ attacks at night will strike him in the absence of a woman besides him at night.

Timothy told The Nairobian that, “I have never spent a single day in any room in or outside the country without a partner, especially a woman.”

Timothy once visited and arrived late in Kakamega County where he was not familiar with the locals. The first thing he did was patronise nearby clubs in search of a woman to spend the night with. He found his choice after scavenging through three clubs.

He claims that he has never had peace since he was in primary school.

“I end up spending a lot of money on the women just because of this issue,” laments Timothy who confesses that his wife of seven years “is very much aware of this. She knows that I’m not doing it for fun, but for the safety of my life and that of the whole family.”

He also denied any wrongdoing to his parents that could have led to the appearance of demons.

His ‘situation’ started when his grandmother told him a story about his grandfather, a herder, who so loved him, that he promised to come and greet him after his death.

“And as a matter of fact, I saw him physically while herding and from that day, I have never slept alone,” says Timothy. He adds that he was the last born between the girls in his family.

“It didn’t hurt me so much because we were sleeping in one room. I was young of course, but I still remember exactly what grandmother told me,” he says.

The father-of-three can’t recall a time he stayed alone, either in primary school or after completing high school.

The soft-spoken man villagers call Sammy, adds that things became worse four years ago when a demon stormed his house and started beating him. At first, he thought thugs had attacked them, but after some struggle, the demon disappeared, leaving him for dead.

“I have never experienced such frustration in my life. You know, after struggling with this man in the dark, I put on the lights but surprisingly, the doors were still locked and I realised they were demons.”

But that was not his last experience with mademoni. On 21 August 2017, he claims that he met two demons dressed in bright red clothes at around 12.30am at Mti Mbao near Kapseret trading centre.

The demons were walking in circles and didn’t bother him. He ran, but a pedestrian was mysteriously knocked on the spot by a car even though no vehicle was on site.

“Can you believe that I don’t go to any church? I don’t even attend burials. I was a member of the Full Gospel Church but I came to realise that those who pretend to be holy are the bad ones. I thought I was going to get saved but decided to worship God from my house since I could not stand bad habits of church leaders,” he said.

He continued: “I also decided not to attend burials because corpses scare me at night. I have never attended burials of my close relatives or gone to hospital. I have never been taken to hospital for treatment because “ugonjwa inaua, wewe ndiye hujajipanga na Mungu na hiyo ndio sababu ya kupata ugonjwa.”
