Please stop writing Your Surname Before Your First Name. See reasons

People must realize that the way names are arranged is the same all over the world. When asked to say or write your name, say or write your first name first, followed by all other names, with the last name assumed to be your last name/surname. For example, if your name is James and your surname is John, write James John instead of the other way around when writing your name.

The common procedure all over the world is:

First name

Middle name(s) if any

Surname or Last Name

If you write your surname first, please use a comma so that readers can remember it. If you write John, James, for example, a reader would understand that John is your surname and James is your first name.

Another appropriate method is to write your last name in capital letters and your first name in lower case letters. JOHN James, for example, would inform all readers that your surname is John and your first name is James.

Also, if you want to introduce yourself with your names, start with the first name. For instance, I am

Mr. James John, Prof./Dr./Rev./Mr. James John, Prof./Dr./Rev./Mr. James

It informs the reader that your first name is James and your last name is John. When mentioning your surname first after your title, don't include your first name. For eg, if you say, "Hi, my name is Mr. John," don't include your first name, James.

People are losing lucrative jobs as a result of small errors made during work interviews. Stop introducing yourself with your surname first. Surnames are often given last, which is why they are referred to as the "Last Name" in some jurisdictions.
