Two armed robbery suspects, Victor Igoche, 32, who hails from Benue State, and Thomas Frank, 34, from Delta State have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly trailing and robbing a bank customer of the money he withdrew at a new generation bank in Ado-Odo/ Otta Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the operatives attached to Onipanu Division of Ogun State Police Command made the arrest on Tuesday, August 11, at 3:30 p.m.
Adejobi disclosed that the police detectives, who were assisted by some members of the community and Vigilante Service of Ogun State, swung into action and raced to the house of the victim, arresting the two suspected armed robbers and recovering their operational vehicle, a black Audi A4 car with number plates KTU 629 CU.
As directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Abbdulmajid Ali, the suspects had yesterday, Wednesday, August 12, been charged to court by the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, following their confession to have been involved in many robbery operations and other crimes in the area.
Ali urged members of the public to avoid moving with cash and be conscious of their environment whenever they embark on any transaction in banks or cash centres.
The Commissioner also assured the people of Ogun State of adequate protection of lives and property as well as improved security networking within the state. He commended the police detectives and members of the public as well as Vigilante Service for the good job they have done.
