ÀTÙPÀ The Nigerian-Canadian International (Yoruba) Language Instructor; Michael Kehinde Abiodun this Sunday debuts a Yoruba Program called "ÀTÙPÀ" (Atupa is a Yoruba word for lantern which is a lighting device). Hence, the Program called ATUPA will be telling strange but true stories and other news/events happening around the world.
The central idea of the program is to enable all the Yoruba speaking and those interested to learn Yoruba language and culture enjoy the Language in a different format. This Program starts on Sunday on Visible Minority Radio & TV Network (VMRTN). On Sunday tune your radio to Toronto 1540 AM or 91.9 FM, From 5.30pm to 6.00pm ET.
ÀTÙPÀ STORY/EVENT-BASED RADIO PROGRAM
ÀTÙPÀ encourages oral retelling existing stories or experiences. ÀTÙPÀ program is more creative and innovative in design with modified materials to meet our target audience. To foster a fuller understanding of the Yoruba Language ATUPA will center around telling stories and explore relevant literatures in Yoruba. Our target audience will experience a wide variety of true life stories, songs, poems, comic programs, jokes, riddles and drama activities in Yoruba on Radio and in future on Television.

EAT, DRINK, SLEEP AND WAKE UP IN YORUBA CULTURE
Mrs Funmilayo Alabi (Funmilayo Ajike) who is the Host of "E Gbe Yewo" and co-Director of VMRTN agreed that the Yorubas in diaspora must allow their children to “eat, drink, sleep and wake up” in Yoruba ways. “You can help children establish attitudes and behaviours in our Yoruba Culture that can guide them in in all areas”. Mrs Funmilayo Ajike continued, “Speak to your children or Yoruba Lovers when making meal and snack, encourage your children to listen to Yoruba Program at least 30 minutes in a day, encourage your children to speak Yoruba when they are with their family friends, speak Yoruba to them when they are participating in a variety of activities, while involving children in the planning, shopping, preparing and serving speak Yoruba Language to them throughout; that is how they eat, drink, sleep and wake up in Yoruba language.
