A pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) identified as Moses Abiodun has been arrested by the Ondo state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for burying something suspected to be human head inside his church.

NSCDC officials swooped on the 34-year-old suspect on Wednesday, April 27, following a tip-off that the cleric had buried some fetish items inside his church located at Ikota in Ifedore local government area of the state. According to the Punch, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Fasiu Adeyinka told journalists on Thursday, April 28, that the suspect was the founder of the C.A.C ‘Dagunro’ and he was suspected to have buried something suspected to be human head inside his church. He said his men had visited Abiodun’s church where some fetish items were exhumed, prompting the arrest of the cleric.

Adeyinka said: “He was asked to dig some spots inside the church where various items such as cow head, pigeon head tied with colanut, big clay pot wrapped with white clothes and other numerous fetish items and charms were exhumed from the ground both at the entrance and inside the church.” The NSCDC boss said his command had begun investigation on the matter while the pastor was still in the NSCDC’s custody. In another development, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has dismissed fears that the preaching bill he sent to the House of Assembly was meant to ban evangelism. According to the Nation, the governor in a message through his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, at a religious bill round-table organised by a non-government organisation, Carefronting Nigeria, in Kaduna on April 19, said the need to secure life and property was the driving force behind the bill.
