Nigerians in Toronto, Ontario, Canada were at the South African’s Embassy yesterday in Toronto on Monday to register their grievance over the non-stop treatment being meted to their fellow African brothers and sisters in South Africa.
Alhaji Kay Alabi the APC chairman Canada Chapter told OASES NEWS that South African’s behavior should not be taken lightly with just a mere apology or treated with levity. In Alhaji Kay Alabi’s words he described the act as “not only barbaric but inhuman, unacceptable, archaic and nasty”. Ms Funmi Olumade recalled when Nigeria gave South Africa Millions of Dollars helping them in their trying days. Prince Adewale Adekanmbi (The Oluwo of Iwo Kingdom) told OASES NEWS that King Zulu should be tried in the ICC for murder because his statement incited the South Africans against their fellow Africans.
The Protesters carried placards with different words, like; “Say No to Xenophobia”, “Iwo Kingdom says No to Xenophobia”, “APC says No to Xenophobia” “Stop killing your fellow men”, “we all one”, “King Zulu should be tried in International Court” etc. Another protester said that the government of South Africa should try to solve the problem now and advised the Nigerian government and other African governments to step into this ugly incident and sign a peace accord if necessary.
Another protester felt so angry that none of the South African’s Embassy staff came out to appeal to us to show an understanding of our plight. “It is highly likely that we would continue to protest until reasonable and acceptable solutions are exhibited to stop these unnecessary killings, afterall we are all foreigners in other countries”
It is sad that anti-foreigner sentiments to Zulus by Zulu "King" Goodwill Zwelithini and Edward Zuma caused the incidents happening in South Africa, resulting to Africans murdering their African brothers and sisters through burning, matchetting and other barbaric ways of exterminating each other. Prince Adewale Akanmbi The Oluwo of Iwo Kingdom called that this be investigated immediately and Zulu be tried at the International Court regardless of his position, “this is a crime against humanity”, he concluded.
