Boko Haram: 43 child soldiers rescued in Borno

The Chadian army operating in the northern Borno area of Damasak local government revealed yesterday that, they have rescued 43 Children, ages between 12 and 19, who were abducted and conscripted into fighting for the Boko Haram Islamic militants.

Spokesman of the Chadian army, Col. Azem Agouna stated this on Wednesday while briefting newsmen on their successes against the Boko Haram insurgents in a latest encounter in the northern Borno area where the joint operation is clearing the remnant of the insurgents.

It would be recalled that in early March, the Chadian military made a huge success when they launched an offensive on the Boko Haram terrorists, killing hundreds to liberate most towns occupied by the terror group along the northern Borno area, where the islamic militants have sustained operation for about two years unchallenged.

The spokesman said, most of the children, who are chadian nationals, managed to escape during a clash between troops and the insurgents as locals helped to hide most of the children from the terrorists, who were using them both as human shield and child soldiers.
