STILL ON RACISM AND INJUSTICE IN AMERICA

What we see manifesting today began long ago when a group of White people went to a different continent to deceitfully take the lawful indigenes away as slaves. They redefined them as ordinary properties in the same class as their cars and houses. The culture and mindset that perpetrated that action are still unrepentant.

So, racism is systemically and culturally ingrained in the fabric of this nation. Since everything reproduces after its own kind, a racist culture or family will produce racist people. The fact remains that the root of the racist actions of some white police officers and many Americans originated from the culture and family that raised them. Two years ago, a sitting judge who was a guest lecturer in a law school, told a room full of second-year law students that “walking into a room full of big dark people makes her uncomfortable.”

Of course, there are millions of good and great Americans who are not racist, but racism continues to be passed from one generation to another. Observing the actions of Americans, especially in the past few years, gives me concerns about how deep racism is entrenched in the hearts of many. Just watch them at some political rallies, college campuses, and rallies like the Charlotte rally. Without sounding hopeless or negative, when it comes to curbing racial injustice in this country, we still have a long way to go. I don’t see an end to it now. Until this nation is ready to confront the past and address it from the root; the cycle continues.

The question is - how should a minority deal with this culture without becoming a victim? And how should all Americans deal with this?

First of all, as a minority in this nation, appreciate that it is by the grace of God that you survive daily. So, pray for daily protection and hide in the blood of Jesus.
Secondly; though I hate to say this until the system changes are mindful of how you conduct yourself and never position yourself where you can be seen as a suspect. Especially a black male. As a black male in America; there are neighborhoods where I dare not walk alone to avoid being seen as a suspect.

Thirdly, be well informed and grow your mind. Never allow the injustice to define who you are. Refuse to allow hatred into your heart against anyone. Hatred destroys.

Fourthly, invest in yourself, and use the opportunities that exist within the system to uplift and upgrade your status in life. Despite all that is happening, the system has a measure of respect for achievers.

Fifthly, know your purpose, and do your best to fulfill it. Make an impact on your generation.

Finally, I salute and commend the white Americans who do not condone racism. Our hope rests on the likes of you to help destroy this satanic system.

We must know that all blacks are not criminals to be feared. In every human race, there are good and bad people. There are criminals and those who are not. It is wrong to label an entire race as criminals just because of the stigma created long ago. Let us live together in love so we can make the best use of our brief time here on the earth.

Do I support those who are protesting? Of course, I do with all the fiber of my being. It should however be done peacefully with respect to life and properties.

As Christians, I leave you with the word of Jesus Christ - "Let your light shine so that men may glorify your Father in heaven." Live your life in a manner that is a positive influence wherever you find yourself. Let us continue to pray for the peace and the greatness of this nation. I also pray for peace and calmness for the family of George Floyd and those currently affected.
