Heavily armed gunmen have killed Hon. Lumunnege Zegeguve, a former Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) in Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue State, in Katsina-Ala town at about 5pm. Benue State Police Public Relations’ Officer (PPRO), ASP Austin Ezeani confirmed  the incindent, but described the murder as a case of criminal conspiracy. Ezeani however noted that one Orshee Tete Zegeguve, a relation of the deceased, suspected as an accomplice has been arrested while the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the General hospital, Katsina-Ala.

Katsina-Ala local government had in recent times witnessed high rate of criminality with the abduction of some prominent personalities including the Provost of College of Education, Katsinal Ala as well as the killing of an Assistant Inspector of Police Baba Ibrahim who was on a special mission from the Force Headquarters, Abuja to investigate the case of cattle rustling in the area.
