Bandits attack convoy, abduct scores on Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Highway

Suspected bandits have attacked a convoy of over 10 motorists and abducted scores of travellers along Kaduna – Birnin Gwari Highway

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity told DAILY POST in Kaduna on Wednesday that, scores of travellers Kidnapped while several motorists were attacked by bandits.

This happened less than 12hours after bandits on Tuesday night attacked Angwar Gimbiya community, in Sabon Tasha, Chikun LGA, in Kaduna and abducted scores of residents in the area.

He said most of the victims of kidnappers were traders on their way to Kano.

He further added that about 18 vehicles which was led by a police escort were attacked

“We have about 70 of our traders from Udawa town alone and there are others from neighbouring towns in the convoy that was attacked between Udawa and Buruku along the highway.” He said

It was gathered that some of the traders that ran into the bush called their relations to inform them of the situation.

Kaduna Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday visited President Mohammad Buhari over the security situation.

He told the state House Correspondent that there was nothing like repentant bandits and that the state’s policy is to dispatch the terrorists attacking innocent people to their creator to answer for their crimes against humanity.

The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed, promised to comment on the incident after finding out details.
