A gang of armed men struck in the Gindri area of Mangu Local Government, Plateau State, on Sunday.
They abducted Charles Mato, the Sum Pyem and paramount ruler of Gindri.
Maj. Ishaku Takwa, Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) confirmed the abduction.
The spokesman informed reporters in Jos, the capital, that Mato was taken from his residence at Gindiri.
Takwa announced the deployment of military personnel to the town for search and rescue.
“Troops of OPSH at Gyambus in Mangu have been mobilised to the area. They are on the trail of the kidnappers”, he said.
