1. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday appointed Dr Doyin Salami as his Chief Economic Adviser in a bid to address the current economic crisis in the country. This was made known on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
2. The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Tuesday averted what could have resulted into a bloody ethnic showdown between Hausa and Yoruba traders at the popular Mandate Market in Ilorin following disagreement between two people over sale of sugarcane.
3. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described Senator Rochas Okorocha as his biggest headache. Uzodinma said this at a stakeholders’ forum, which was held in the State on Tuesday.
4. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday announced major redeployment of its senior officers across different theaters of operations, branches and headquarters in a major shake-up. This is coming a few days after the retirement of some senior officers and the latest decoration of the newly promoted officers among air troops.
5. One person has been confirmed dead and another injured after bandits attacked the home of an officer attached to the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), ASP Aliyu Umar, at Kofar Kona area of Zaria Local Government Area in Kaduna State.
6. The Federal Government says it is yet to designate bandits as terrorists because of international best practices. In an interview on Tuesday, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), said the process would be concluded in a matter of days.
7. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has partially dissolved the State Executive Council with the sacking of about eight commissioners. A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor issued Tuesday in Makurdi, indicated that eight commissioners were, however, retained.
8. The efficacy of the herbal drug to combat Covid-19 developed by Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) has been put to test as 19 patients of the dreaded disease have recovered through the usage of the drug.
9. A section of the Katsina State House of Assembly Complex has been consumed by fire again, eight months after the complex suffered a similar fate. Hon. Tasi’u Maigari, the Speaker of the state assembly while confirming the incident disclosed that the incident which occurred Sunday night, affected the office of the Clerk of the assembly, his deputy and the legislative common room.
10. An unnamed Chief Superintendent of Police on Tuesday openly defied the order of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to vacate the Magodo Phase 2 Estate area of the state. The CSP told the governor that he and his armed colleagues were at the estate on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba; as well as the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
