The family of 15 year old Wasila Tasi’u can breathe a sigh of relief as all charges against her have been dropped.

Wasila, who killed her 35-year old husband, Umar Sani, and four others, by spicing their dishes with rat poison got reprieve when the family of the deceased Mr. Sani decided to have mercy on the girl who was married off at the young age of 14.

A prosecutor in the case, Lamido Soron-Dinki, on Thursday asked the judge presiding over the case to close the case of culpable homicide against the girl.

“With a heavy heart, I apply that the accused be discharged,” Mr. Soron-Dinki said.
