Inspector General Solomon Arase has warned personnel policemen who carry boxes and do other chores for VIPs they are assigned to protect would be arrested immediately.
Serving as domestic servants for VIPs is absolutely inacceptable for a police officer. Inspector General Solomon Arase has warned that any policeman spotted carrying boxes or doing some kind of chores for VIPs would be arrested immediately.
“Those of you who are posted to VIPs, on no account should you carry their bags and on no account should you act as domestic servants to them”, told Arase his subordinates. “You are police officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and they must respect you as such. Your uniform must be respected, anybody who wants to hire a domestic help should not use our policemen who are sent to protect them”.
He also warned police officers against reckless driving. “Your professional conduct is going to mean so much to the current administration in the police”, stated Arase. “If you are going to enforce the law, you must obey the law”.
Until his appointment as Inspector General a month ago, Mr. Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department. Mr. Arase holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law, as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College
