More Reactions Follow Siege On Kashamu's Residence

Reactions continue tracking the siege laid on the home of the senator-elect Buruji Kashamu by the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

While Kashamu aides characterized the move as illegal, the NDLEA officials explained that the operation was in line with the legal process of extradition.

Kashamu, previously indicted for drug dealing in the USA, is set to appear in court on Monday.

One Child One Teacher Africa (OCOTA), a non-governmental organization, expressed concern over the attempted arrest carried out by the operatives, NAN reports.

On May 24, Sunday, the body issued a statement in Abuja condemning the manner in which the agency approached the attempted arrest.

“The rights of every Nigerian regardless of his or her status must be not be violated in the guise of enforcing provisions of the law.”

Kashamu, on his part, allegedly yesterday threatened to commit suicide if anyone entered his home.

Here is how Naij.com readers reacted to the NDLEA move.

Aminu Muhammad: “My advice is that if they intend to extradite him they must move fast before he is sworn in as a senator of the federal republic. They should not be lousy like the 19 Ekiti state legislators. We don’t want to scandalise our country by exporting a whole senator to America.”

Shaibu Abubakar Sadiq: No more power of PDP but the power of rules of law. Thank God for change.”

Afunwa N’Ekwe: “Witch-hunting of political enemies is back again. OBJ is at it again!”

Bunmi Bolaji Sam-Apugu: “Only in Nigeria are criminals praised n are not properly scrutinized before nominating or appointing people of questionable characterd to highly respected offices. Why is he scared if he is as innocent as he claims.”

Soala Robinson: “This man is a criminal, if he says he’s not, then he should freely go to d USA to clear his name. We should stop politicising everything in Nigeria. That’s one reason why dis country has refused to move forward.”
