Some thugs alleged to be All Progressive Congress, APC, members on Friday in Lafia, the Nassarawa State capital beat up a reporter with Daily Trust identified as Hir Joseph while Governor Tanko- Al-Makura was been inaugurated into office.
The irate mob was said to have pounced on the reporter shortly after the Governor alongside his Deputy took their oath of office at about 11.30am because of an analysis he did recently on President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Al-Makura.
Joseph was also accused of writing unwanted reports about the State.
It was gathered that security operatives however came to the rescue of Joseph after shooting teargas canisters at the suspected thugs.
Joseph was later rushed to Dalhatu Specialist Hospital, Lafia for medical treatment.
Upon being revived, Joseph said, “I was watching the inauguration with some colleagues when the thugs who had the inscription ‘Ta’Al Boys’ on their T-shirts demanded that I follow them. I asked why they wanted me to follow them but they gave no answer. Rather, they pounced on me and dragging me at the same time. I only woke up in the hospital after.”
While condemning the attack, Suleiman Abubakar, Chairman of the State’s correspondent chapel promised to take up the case with the appropriate authorities so as to forestall a re-occurrence.
