A bomb blast hit a busy market in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State in Nigeria’s troubled North-East, killing as many as 50 people, according to eyewitnesses quoted by Al Jazeera.
“A man blew himself up at Gamboru cattle market, according to witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. One said he counted at least 20 bodies,” the report said.
The attack reportedly occurred minutes ago.
News Express had earlier reported that Boko Haram insurgents early this morning attacked arts of Maiduguri.
More than 30 people were reported dead in similar attacks over the weekend.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who has vowed to stamp out Bokon Haram, is currently having his first meeting with the Service Chiefs in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
